Founder’s Story

A Vision to Transform Arabic Learning

Erin Reyes and Jennifer Killpack (MA Applied Linguistics, Univ. of Birmingham) founded Shababeek in 2013 with a dream to create a space where learners could deeply engage with the language, culture, and people of the Arab world. Their goal was simple yet ambitious: to offer an environment that inspires meaningful connection and transformative growth.

Learning Arabic is widely known to be challenging. From the start, Erin and Jennifer committed to developing innovative methods and high-quality resources that make learning Levantine Arabic more effective and enjoyable. Today, with over 900,000 hours of language sessions delivered, Shababeek’s team has earned a strong reputation for helping Arabic learners reach a high level of proficiency and extensive cultural understanding.
