Founder’s Story
Erin Reyes and Jennifer Killpack founded Shababeek in 2013 as a center where foreigners could interact with Arabs in a transformative space.
Knowing themselves how challenging learning Arabic can be, they built linguistic and cultural resources, alongside local staff, in order to ease the transition to life in the Arab world and to counter the way much of the media has misrepresented the Middle East and its beautiful people.
Today Shababeek now employs 80% women, developing leaders from within the local community.
With a combined 29 years of experience living in cross-cultural settings, together they seek to help others thrive while facing the challenges of overseas living.
