Contemporary Middle East History and Politics

Shababeek is offering a 10-week university level course which aims to introduce participants to the complex historical and political realities of the modern Middle East. As foreigners wanting to build relationships in Jordan, it is important to understand the history of the region and the perspectives of its peoples.

Course Outline:
In-depth analysis of the issues below and key Arabic vocabulary related to the subject matter that will help you explore the following topics further with local friends, neighbors and Shababeek staff:

    • The Origins of the Conflict
    • The 6 Key Political Issues
    • The Gaza Strip War
    • The Special Relationship: The US and Israel
    • The Peace Process
  • American Foreign Policy in the Middle East through Arab Eyes

    • Case Study: Iraq
  • Religion, Violence and the War on Terrorism

  • Contemporary Middle East History and Politics

Dates & Times

12:30-2:00 PM, every Tuesday from September 24 – November 26.

If you have sessions typically from 1:00-5:00, please contact Customer Care to shift that hour for you to another day of the week for the duration of the course.

Cost

This 10 week course is 80 JOD for Shababeek participants, 100 JOD for guests.

If you are a Shababeek participant, 80 JOD will be deducted from your account when you register. If you are a guest, please pay 100 JOD via the button below after you complete the registration form.

Payment must be made by Sept 10 to secure your spot. Space is limited.
