Overview of our 5 Phases

Wondering what Shababeek’s program is like?

Below is a brief introduction to Shababeek’s 5 Phases of experiential learning. The activities in each phase will help you progress in your ability to speak and understand Levantine spoken Arabic.

01

Foundations

Begin learning Levantine Arabic through the physical world around you. Acquire foundational vocabulary and key grammatical concepts by seeing and doing. Immersive learning in the target language from day one… no translation needed. Audio recordings and in-house original animations will help you reinforce and reactive the language you are exposed to daily.

02

Narrative Development

Learn how to build simple stories using your developing vocabulary. Picture books act as visual aids in storytelling. Further activities work on pronunciation, reading at your personal level and practice with everyday speech patterns and verb conjugations.

03

Collective Experiences

Move beyond the visual by accessing a variety of familiar stories from our expansive library of Arabic voices. Whether role playing practical interactions in sessions, or going on excursions with your language coach, your emerging skills will be put into action.  With the support of a mentor to assist you in navigating public settings you will begin feeling confident in daily exchanges in Arabic.

04

Personal & Cultural Narratives

Gain deep insights and new perspectives on local life and culture. Grow in understanding personal experiences and societal values. Express yourself on a personal level while focusing on improved accuracy in your communication. This is the phase you go ‘off-script’ and begin to understand Arabic speakers, whatever they share, with you directly.

05

Authentic Discourse

Expand your ability to participate in a variety of social settings by exposure to authentic speech in the form of resources intended for an Arab audience. Objectives of this phase help you enhance your speed of processing language, understand the norms of discourse, and prepare you to participate in a variety of group settings alongside proficient Arabic speakers.
