Oral Proficiency Interview

Internationally Recognized Standards

Assess Your Speaking Ability

At Shababeek, we use the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) framework to help learners better understand their Arabic speaking level based on ACTFL proficiency standards.

The OPI is a structured speaking interview that looks at how effectively you can communicate in real-life situations. It helps evaluate your ability to express ideas, handle different conversations, and use Arabic naturally.

Shababeek offers a free advisory OPI interview beginning in Phase 4 exclusively for our learners.

Closing the Gaps in your Arabic Proficiency

After the interview, you will receive aural feedback your current level, and our recommendations for continued improvement.

As a general guideline, learners often need significant additional practice and language exposure to move between major proficiency levels. Many learners notice a clear difference after around 400  hours of learning, depending on their consistency, learning background, and opportunities to use Arabic.

The OPI is a great tool to track your overall progress and set goals to reach the next level ahead.

Note: This is not a certified OPI exam and does not provide an official certificate. If you need a certification, the only way to do so is through LTI.  It is an advisory assessment which our staff have been certified to provide according to the ACTFL guidelines, and intended to give you a clearer picture of your proficiency achievement thus far.
